And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:18-19

In this passage of scripture, Christ uses an article with which we are all very familiar, the key. We all have keys; keys to our home, our automobile, the glove compartment, the gas cap, a lock box, a diary, a tool shed, a box at the Post Office, a briefcase, and the list seems almost endless.

All keys are made for two simple functions, to lock something or to unlock it. Keys are made so something can be opened or something can be kept shut.
Why would we want to lock something up? Christ said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy...

Because in this world, there are thieves! If something is valuable to us  and if we want to keep it, we lock it up so thieves cannot take it, or get to it. Locks help us keep things so they will not become lost or stolen. One reason keys and locks are made, is to help us keep thieves out.

Without the right key, things are also locked up and cannot be opened. As it is in the natural... so is it in the spiritual.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me... to preach deliverance to the captives...
Luke 4:18

The LORD looseth the prisoners. Psalms 146:7

To hear the groaning of the prisoner;to loose those that are appointed to death. Psalms 102:20

In Luke, chapter thirteen, the scriptures mention a woman whom Satan had bound up or locked up in her infirmity for eighteen years. Christ loosed or unlocked her from the bondage which Satan had inflicted on her.

Christ had the right key to turn in the devil’s lock so that she, who was held captive by the devil, could be set free.

For too many years, many of us have stood powerless to meet many of our own spiritual needs; much less, the desperate needs of those around us! We have either been ignorant of the keys which Christ has given us, or we have lost them.

Have you ever lost your automobile keys? There you stood outside your car, looking in the window, but unable to get in.
You could not start your car. You could not move your car. You could not even get in your car. What a dilemma!

Someone might have come by and volunteered to try and pick the lock, but to no avail.

Over the years we have tried to pick spiritual locks endeavoring to get the job done. We have tried to pick the lock with chicken suppers, singings, eloquent preaching, new and elaborate programs, beautiful sanctuaries, and the finest sound systems. All to no avail!

Today, we have people all around us who need to be set free, need to be loosed. Is it still God’s will and plan for the oppressed to be set free? If so, is God still interested in using human vessels in our generation to accomplish this task on the earth?

Christ tossed to Peter spiritual keys. Christ knew He would soon be leaving and it would be up to the Church to carry on with the opening and closing. So, the Lord entrusted His keys to... humanity.

In order to use the keys, we must know what they are, as well as how to use them.

The illustration concerning being locked out of your car and unable to get in could still be real, even if you had the keys in your pocket or purse. You would remain locked out until you located the RIGHT key and correctly put it INTO the lock. That in itself, would still not open your car door. You must turn the key in the lock. Your car door would remain locked until you turned the key to cause the lock to open.

It is my earnest hope that as you study and apply the truths contained in this book, you will not only become a hearer and learn what some  of the spiritual keys are to the kingdom, but that you will turn the key  in the lock by becoming a doer of the Word as well.

Now, let us allow the Key Of Motivation to stir us into action to become MORE THAN CONQUERORS; the Key of Preparation to move us forward so we can become PREPARED FOR WAR; the Key of Information to open our hearts and understanding so that we may understand The House Of David And The House Of Saul; and the Key of Application will help us apply the truths to LAY THE AX TO THE ROOT, as the Key of Sanctification takes care of any SPOTS, WRINKLES AND BLEMISHES that still may remain in our spiritual garments.

The term “overcomer” in some religious circles, carries only the connotation of living in prosperity and overcoming sickness. Just the mention of the word “overcome” causes many to think only of the natural realm.

Overcoming Overall was not written to address the temporal, but the eternal. There have been many books written on the natural temporal aspects of overcoming. In this book, I will target an area of overcoming where there is a vital need... our personal spiritual victory!

You are about to embark upon a study in something that is vitally lacking today... spiritual common sense.
Overcoming Overall was not written to excite the intellect, but to provide the spiritual substance necessary to transform spiritual cocoons into spiritual butterflies.

Chapter after chapter, line upon line, precept upon precept... you will become aware of life-changing spiritual secrets which will enable you to finally... overcome overall.

Now if you are ready for the Holy Spirit to insert the right key in the right lock, begin in chapter one, just as you are, knowing that by the time you complete chapter five, you will never again be the same!
